Survey shows HR professionals most enjoy helping people
A new survey of professionals working in HR has found that helping employees with any difficulties they are having is the part of the job that they enjoy the most.
This survey was carried out by Ciphr and a total of 300 professionals from within the HR sector took part in it. Out of those, 50% told the survey that supporting workers within their organisation was among the things that they most value about their job. That makes it the thing cited by the highest number of people, with recruitment and business growth coming next. This was named by 47% of respondents.
Among the other things that HR professionals listed as sources of job satisfaction were: enhancing efficiency and productivity (40%); working with people they like and respect (39%); implementing better workplace procedures (37%); and finding solutions to problems (36%).
One third of those who took part in the survey (34%) said that building workplace cultures that are healthier and more inclusive was the part they liked the most. That is a core function of HR, but also one that can sometimes be challenging. This is why some firms bring in a company culture consultant to help with it.
Talking to People Management, Emma Hillman from Stellamar said:
“Whether it’s helping someone grow in their career, resolving conflicts to create a better work environment or supporting employees through difficult times, we play a huge role in shaping the culture of a business.”
She added that the survey showed most people within HR valued being able to effect positive change.
