Many UK workers view wellbeing as central to loyalty
A new piece of research has found that a significant number of workers in the UK would show greater loyalty to an employer who prioritised their wellbeing, suggesting this is key to staff retention.
This finding comes from the ‘Workplace Wellbeing Report 2025’ that was commissioned by Reward Gateway, a benefits provider. The report spoke to more than 4,000 workers across the country and over one third of them said that they would show more loyalty to a company that was concerned for their wellbeing. A total of 34% of those who took part in it expressed this view.
Another 26% indicated they consider the company that employs them to have a responsibility towards their wellbeing. An overwhelming majority of the respondents – 88% to be exact – said that companies that do so will be more able to keep hold of their employees.
This is clearly an issue that employers must develop policy on, either internally or through an employee relations consultant in Northampton or elsewhere. Happily, the report offers indications that some are doing just that.
Just over one quarter of the workers that participated said that they were comfortable discussing mental health in the workplace and that they had related benefits. A further 29% told the study that they believe their employer cares about the issue. This is far from a perfect situation, but it does represent a start.
