Employers claim hiring process too lengthy
Employers in the UK are finding the process of recruiting top quality employees to be too lengthy and difficult, according to the results of a new survey that has just been released.
This survey was produced by Indeed, the job search website, and 1,000 UK employers took part in it. What the results show is that two thirds of them – or 67% to be precise – find the hiring process to be lengthy and frustrating. Another 65% of the employers that took part in the survey said that they had been trying to find someone for a specialist role for two months or more.
One of the biggest problems highlighted by employers was the applicant assessment stage. Close to one out of every six told the survey that this took up for too much time. Half of the employers said that drawn out recruitment processes had led to strong applicants walking away.
In response to the survey, Jim Moore from Hamilton Nash said that HR teams needed to figure out what was making things so slow. Some examples he cited included poor internal communications and too many interviews.
Making use of cutting-edge technology could speed up recruitment, but not all companies have access to it. This is where outsourced HR services in Bedfordshire and elsewhere could help firms with their hiring.
Claire Coe of the Madison Berkeley recruitment company stated that the interview stage needed clear structuring and final decision making had to be streamlined.
One option that the survey highlighted was for employers to deploy artificial intelligence in hiring.
