Working alongside a lettings agency to help it grow and meet new customer demands

The client is a medium sized letting agency managing property portfolios for its landlord clients and tenants looking after their properties and tenant needs.

The client had grown rapidly and recently taken on a number of property portfolios and staff to manage the increase in work. They wanted the support of our HR advice and guidance services to navigate through the onboarding process and ensure they were compliant with their HR obligations as they were unsure what to do.

We initially supported the client to prepare job descriptions for the roles and identify the skills and experience that was required. We supported the selection process and coordinated with the recruitment and security agencies. We also prepared contracts of employment and helped with the induction process. We developed a close relationship with the client and were very happy to be retained on a monthly basis to provide ongoing advice and guidance as required as the new employees settled into their roles.

The client had approached us at a networking event where we were showcasing our HR services. We were able to discuss our skills and experience in supporting clients as they grow and take on additional staff. We demonstrated our knowledge through existing client work and this gave the client confidence that we could support with their HR needs.

We spent a few days shadowing the client and existing managers in their offices to understand the business and built a picture of the roles that were needed. This helped us to create what we needed for job descriptions and the competencies required. We also ran some recruitment and selection skills’ workshops to support managers understand the process and provided additional help as needed.

We believe in developing a close working relationship with all our clients. This helps us to build trust that we can help them navigate the complexities of HR when clients are growing and themselves focussed on their customers and what they deliver to them.

At the time the client was taking on 5 additional new members of staff and have now grown to a team of 20. As we established greater credibility the client was happy to retain us on a monthly basis as their outsourced HR “advisor” providing advice and guidance when it was needed and a range of additional HR services, including manager training and health and safety.
